Benjamin Puente Establishes Himself as One of the Top Goalkeepers in the CCCAA

Chilean goalkeeper Benjamin Puente, currently playing for East Los Angeles College (ELAC), finished the regular season of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) ranked among the conference’s top goalkeepers, solidifying his role as a key player for the California team.

Puente appeared in 11 matches, starting 10 of them, recording 48 saves and posting a strong 71.6% save percentage, placing him in the Top 3 in the conference for total saves and among the best save percentages of the tournament. He conceded 19 goals in total, averaging 1.72 goals per game—a figure that is particularly notable considering the offensive volume ELAC faced in each match.

The Chilean-trained goalkeeper has been a decisive factor in keeping the Huskies competitive in a conference known for its high physical and technical level. His consistency, reflexes, and defensive leadership have made him one of the most valued players on the roster and one of the standout Latin American surprises of the season.

“Benjamín has shown maturity, personality, and a competitive level that stands out even against teams with superior defensive structures. His growth has been remarkable, and his impact on the team is undeniable,” said the ELAC coaching staff.

With this season, Puente projects as a goalkeeper to watch for the next season of college soccer in the United States, paving the way for new athletic and academic challenges.
